After a long time of not posting anything, I break the silence with an illustration based on a quote shared with me today by a fellow daydreamer.
"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible." – T.E. Lawrence
Oh, Everybody! La la-la la la la-la la…

"Frank" — Joey Ponce, 2012
So, I painted tonight. A tiny thing. Nothing big. I have been stuck on Frank Ocean’s album “Channel Orange” and this song in particular sticks out. I suppose it is the way he felt—feels?—about dealing with his sexuality. The piece is a bit different than what I’d typically do, but the song is just really good and has been stuck in my head. You know, you listen to a song sometimes, and then pictures start forming in your brain of what that song would look like on paper. I guess this is a quick painting/sketch of what I think this song might be like; in my brain, at least.
Lyrics from Frank Ocean’s “Bad Religion" —
Same Love, 2012, Joey Ponce —
Good song. Good message. Go give it a listen. Same Love.
When I moved to Indianapolis a little over a year ago, the downtown architecture along Mass Ave was one of the first things I noticed and admired. Beautiful old buildings, unique and monumental, with stories to tell. So, here’s this series of screenprints based off four of those buildings. Extremely simple, showcasing some of the key details or architectural stylings of those buildings. They will be available for sale starting tomorrow at The Inventorialist on Mass Ave. All you Indy people, come by and see ‘em.
Quick sketch. A nod to my Mexican upbringing and how I never quite got it right… Definitely going to refine this one and screenprint it.
Anonymous asked: Your Broadripple is Burning sketch is simply beautiful. :)
Thanks so much! I always appreciate the kind words from people. I still want to refine that sketch and clean it up a bit. Not sure… I may like it as is. Until then, thank you for noticing my work. Keep checking in for new projects.
